Family Man Season 2

The Family Man Season 1 finale left us all wondering what is going to happen next; and after two years of waiting, Srikant Tiwari is back. But by the looks of it, he now has bigger problems than national security. Directed by Raj and DK, the show stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role as a cunning spy and loving family man who works for the fictious TASC force- which is in charge of handling the security of our country.

Viewers will get to see South Indian-heartthrob Samantha Akkineni as the main antagonist this season. Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Sharib Hashmi, Dalip Tahil, and Darshan Kumar and expected to reprise their roles.

Available on Amazon Prime, Season 2 two will release on June 4th, 2021.

Loki

What to Watch on OTT Platforms in June 2021

The Marvel fandom has reason to rejoice this June as Loki gets resurrected (again). Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the science-fiction action-comedy Loki is the third television series which will be released on 9th June, as part of MCU’s Phase Four plans.

The series also features Owen Wilson as Agent Mobius, who works for the TVA (they are responsible for upholding the integrity of time itself). Tom Hiddleston is caught by the TVA for forming an entirely new timeline after stealing the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. What happens to him next, and whether the sun will shine on him again is something Marvel fans will have to find by watching the series.

Consisting of six episodes, Loki’s first episode releases on June 9th, with a new episode dropping weekly. It will available for steaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

What happens when a true-blue Indian gunda decides to join gangsters from London?

Jagame Thandhiram’s plotline revolves around this same idea. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj (of Pizza and Petta fame), the action thriller film stars Dhanush in the lead role and marks the Indian debut of James Cosmo (remember Jeor Mormont from Game of Thrones?).

The teaser which released in February, has gained 17 million views. It promises a great deal of explosive action. Also starring Joju George and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the movie will release on Netflix on 18th June 2021.

Luca

Pixar has always surprised its audience with stories that captivate hearts and minds alike; and with animation that has always been a feast for the eyes. This June, the legendary animation studio presents Luca, a coming-of-age fantasy comedy movie.

The plot centers around Luca, a teenage sea monster who resides underwater. One summer, with his new best friend Alberto, Luca decides to explore a human seaside town set in the Italian riveria. The movie captures their adventures during that summer as they try to blend in with the humans, make friends and try to hide their true monster identities.    

Starring Jacob Tremblay and Jack Dylan Grazer in the lead, apart from Maya Rudolph and Jim Gaffigan in supporting roles, the movie is set for release on Disney+ Hotstar on 18th June, 2021.

Sherni

What to Watch on OTT Platforms in June 2021

Vidya Balan’s first release this year, Sherni is a satire directed by Amit Masurkar (of Newton fame). The movie also stars Vijay Raaz, Neeraj Kabi, Mukul Chadda, Brijendra Kala and Sharat Saxena in crucial roles. The plot revolves around an upright Forest Officer, played by Vidya Balan, who strives for balance in a world of man-animal conflict.

The movie is expected to release on 18th June, and will be available for viewers on Amazon Prime.

Sweet Tooth

What to Watch on OTT Platforms in June 2021

Sweet Tooth is an upcoming fantasy-survival drama series that is based on the beloved DC comic of the same name. Often described as “Bambi meets Mad Max”, the story focuses on a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus who travels across a post-apocalyptic American landscape along with a wandering human named Jepperd. The series will focus on Gus’s origin, Jeppard’s past and their adventures as they travel to safety.

Starring Christian Convery as Gus and Nonso Anozie as Tommy Jepperd, Robert Downey Jr. serves as executive producer for this series.

It will release on Netflix on June 4th, 2021.

Sunflower

A Zee 5 Original release, Sunflower is a comedy thriller that is set in a middle-class housing society. The Vikas Bahl-directed series shows great promise as it is full of quirky characters, played by a host of veteran actors like Sunil Grover, Ranvir Shorey, Mukul Chadha, Girish Kulkarni, Shonali Nagrani, and Ashish Vidyarthi.

The plot revolves around a murder that takes place in a housing society- ‘Sunflower’- and the investigation that follows.

The show will be available on Zee 5 from 11th June, 2021.

Skater Girl

In the list of ‘What to Watch on OTT Platforms in June 2021’, Skater Girl is next. A coming-of-age tale that tells the story of a rural Indian girl, Skater Girl is set in the villages of Rajasthan. Directed by Manjari Makijany  and featuring newcomers Rachel Sanchita Gupta and Shafin Patel in the lead roles, the story revolves around the girl’s newfound passion- skateboarding- after it is introduced to the village by a British-Indian woman.

The movie, which also stars Amrit Maghera, Jonathan Readwin and Waheeda Rehman, is set to release on Netflix on 11th June, 2021.

Ray- Netflix

Satyajit Ray’s influence on not just Indian cinema, but world cinema too, is something that can never be truly measured. This coming June, Ray, an anthology series inspired by the works of the great master himself will release on Netflix.

Directed by present-day celebrated Indian directors like Vasan Bala, Abhishek Chaubey, and Srijit Mukherji, the series consists of four episodes and stars Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Kay Kay Menon, Shweta Basu Prasad and Gajraj Rao among others.

The series will release on Netflix on 25th June, 2021.
