Nearly a decade after it was first discussed, the Community movie is finally on the verge of becoming a reality. McHale, in an interview, humorously teased some plot details, suggesting a journey to the earth’s core, reminiscent of The Core. However, the actual storyline, as revealed by Glover, revolves around a college reunion. The narrative focuses on Abed Nadir, portrayed by Danny Pudi, who has become a renowned director, with the movie being his masterpiece.

McHale expressed his firm belief that filming would commence within the year, indicating that scheduling around Donald Glover’s availability is the primary consideration. He humorously contrasted his current cast in Animal Control with his Community colleagues, playfully calling them “a bunch of hacks,” while praising the comedic talent of Ken Jeong, despite jokingly criticizing him.

Community, created by Dan Harmon, enjoyed a successful run of 110 episodes over six seasons, transitioning from NBC to Yahoo! Screen. Despite not always being a ratings hit, the show has maintained a dedicated fan base and has been recognized with several awards, including an Emmy and a Critics’ Choice Television Award.

The Community movie was officially announced by Peacock in 2022, with Harmon and Andrew Guest writing the script. Despite initial plans to start shooting in June of the previous year, strikes during the summer caused delays. The film will see the return of cast members including McHale, Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Jeong, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Glover, promising a reunion that fans have eagerly awaited.
